Pune: Tata Technologies, a global product engineering and digital services company, has announced the launch of the fourth edition of its flagship engineering innovation hackathon, InnoVent-27, in collaboration with Emerson’s Test & Measurement business and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Designed to empower engineering students across India, InnoVent-27 provides a platform for participants to address real-world industrial challenges through advanced computing solutions deployed directly where data is generated.
This year’s edition of InnoVent-27 revolves around the theme ‘AI at the Edge’, encouraging students to develop next-generation engineering solutions for the automotive, industrial heavy machinery, and aerospace sectors.
The initiative aims to foster innovation by enabling participants to build intelligent, localized, and real-time AI applications that can improve performance, safety, sustainability, and autonomy across industries.

Through InnoVent-27, Tata Technologies is collaborating with Emerson’s Test & Measurement business and AWS to provide engineering students with access to industry expertise, cloud infrastructure, technical mentorship, and advanced engineering tools.
The hackathon seeks to bridge the gap between academic learning and industrial application by allowing students to conceptualize and build solutions that address emerging challenges across critical sectors.
The theme, AI at the Edge, focuses on leveraging localized intelligence and advanced computing capabilities closer to the source of data generation.
Under the tagline, “AI solution for Automotive, Industrial Heavy Machinery, and Aerospace,” InnoVent-27 invites participants to create innovative solutions that can support applications such as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), autonomous systems, predictive maintenance, smart manufacturing, digital twins, intelligent inspection, secure connected ecosystems, and energy-efficient mobility technologies.
The competition is open to third and fourth-year engineering students across India. Reinforcing its commitment to diversity and inclusion, InnoVent-27 actively encourages participation from teams that include women innovators and differently abled members.
Participants in InnoVent-27 will undergo a three-stage evaluation process comprising concept screening, virtual Proof of Concept (PoC) presentations, and final prototype demonstrations.
Entries will be assessed on parameters including innovation, feasibility, diversity, technical execution, and real-world impact. Special emphasis will be placed on functional prototypes capable of addressing industry challenges.
To help students refine and scale their innovations, Tata Technologies’ Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) will provide technical mentorship throughout the program.
The top-performing teams in InnoVent-27 will be eligible for cumulative cash prizes worth ₹4.5 lakh, along with job opportunities at Tata Technologies.
In addition to cash rewards, winning teams will receive AWS Kits and sponsor recognitions, including the Breakthrough Idea Award and Best Prototype Award. All teams that progress to the PoC stage will receive participation certificates.
